Evaluation

 Diary:

Week one:

I hoped to make a start on my blog writing up my ideas and making a plan for my proposal. I achieved this with ease which gives me hope that I can be this productive throughout the unit. 

Week Two:

For my second week I want to write up my proposal, make a time plan and also plan what research I want to do.

In my lesson this week I learnt about depth perception more specifically the exposure triangle I feel this will aid me in evolving my practical skills. I also created my research plan although it is slightly vague I have found that often research leads from one thing to another so it is best to have an idea of what you want to research rather than a strict plan. Furthermore I also completed my time plan this was very important to me because I find keeping to a strict measure of time only aids me making my time feel productively spent this also stops me from worrying about making deadlines. Adam and I also recorded our pitch over zoom in front of our peers and also representatives from Collusion. I defiantly feel that I have really improved my pitching skills as I have learnt to make them feel more natural which allows my passion for the project to come through. Also the feedback we were given solidifies that our idea could defiantly work. Furthermore I made a start on my target audience research which has put me ahead of my schedule. 

Week Three:

In this week I would like to have my survey created and the results written up. Also I would like my target audience research completed and a start made on my TikTok research.  

To begin the week I had a meeting over zoom with Adam at the start of the project we agreed to do our secondary research independently but our primary research together. This meeting was to decide the questions for our survey this went very well as we had almost identical ideas of what we wanted to know and why. 

Also I completed my target audience research I was concerned that because I was researching how to connect with the audience I have been given by the client rather than discovering who my audience is. However I feel this has gone well and I can now progress knowing how to tailor to my audiences needs. Furthermore I researched TikTok I found this channel extremely helpful as it's important to understand and know the app I'm using. Especially when I researched their audience this cemented my belief that TikTok is a great way to interact with any but in particular my audience. 

Week Four:

Within this week I would like to have my analysis's of the news and a science fiction piece and apply this to our project starting to create a set design and the mise en scene of the scene. 

The analysis of the news made me understand the codes and conventions and this will really help me to know how I want to portray a realistic news room. However when trying to analyse a science fiction scene I found it hard to find a portrayal of the future which wasn't dystopian. Also when considering the codes and conventions I felt that want we want to show doesn't a line with any.  

Week Five:

In this week I would like to continue my research looking into how to film through books and videos. Also I would like to start pre production and planning by sorting out actors and booking the studio and equipment.

I began by looking for a book on filming/cinematography this was extremely difficult as there are currently no libraries open due to covid. However I was able to find a preview for a book on Google Books this was actually very detailed and I managed to get lots of notes on helpful tips of filming. There was also a section on greenscreen was good because this will be the first time I will need to use greenscreen. Also I watched a few videos on YouTube about setting up a scene these were really interesting and although at this point I am not sure whether I will use the techniques they discussed it was really interesting and has allowed me to think more deeply about framing a scene. Also I looked at the studio I will be using to film and began to create a simple set design. To evolve this we then did a test shoot I believe it looked and sounded professional however this was a good experience as it allowed us to become more familiar with the studio and the equipment. This was especially important because of the Corona virus we have both had very little experience with the equipment within the last year. Furthermore I also made a rough outline of the narrative using Synders story beats in preparation for writing our script I have learnt from past projects that I find this really helpful as it allows me to consider my story and how I want to tell it making the writing process easier. Week Six:

In this week I would like to have all actors booked and a production schedule made. I would also like my screenplay completed and the TikTok ideas done. In this week we have a meeting with collusion also I would like to be shown how to operate the greenscreen in the studio. 

To begin I researched public art installations although this will not directly help my promotional campaign it was interesting and allowed me to consider the end result if my promotional campaign does succeed and how it will effect the community. Furthermore I also prepared a first draft of the screenplay it was made easier by following the outline I had created a week earlier. Although there is room for improvement I believe it is a good foundation. After discussing the first draft with Adam he thought it was a good narrative and told the story well. However he rightly pointed out that the themes of kindness where underrepresented in the narrative to continue I have made the second draft accessible to both of us as I think this will be the quickest way to succeed. Although I did not achieve as much as I would have hoped this week we are still on schedule. Also Adam had a meeting with Collusion in which they discussed our progress which they were happy with also we got information and resources we required. Overall the meeting was a success from both sides.  

Week Seven:

In this week I would like all my actors roles decided and for a solid production schedule to be in place as well as having all the actors sign release forms. Also I would like the final draft of my script to be done and to be checked by Collusion. Furthermore I would also like the story board and shot list done.
